Se festejan los 110 años del Museo, con la presentación de dos importantes exposiciones internacionales, vinculadas con las vanguardias del movimiento moderno, en la plástica y el diseño: Tomás Maldonado. Un itinerario, producida por el MNBA y Modelos de Ulm, el diseño de la nueva Alemania / 1953 – 1968, organizada por el Museo de Ulm, Alemania.
La exposición de Tomás Maldonado se propone explorar la multifacética trayectoria de un artista plástico argentino central en las vanguardias del S.XX, teórico y diseñador, reconocido internacionalmente. Nacido en Buenos Aires en 1922, fue uno de los protagonistas del movimiento de arte concreto en las década del 40, donde se postuló el fin de la representación del ilusionismo pictórico y la emergencia de un nuevo tipo de arte, basado en la geometría y el orden matemático, cuyo objetivo era transformar la sociedad en su conjunto. Se exhibirán pinturas de Maldonado de esta primera etapa (1945-1954), pertenecientes a colecciones locales e internacionales, junto a documentación que permitirá percibir el clima artístico e intelectual que signó la ciudad en esa época.
